The pre wedding flower checklist

An easy go-to guide curated by us to help you understand what you need to book in before organising your dream wedding flowers

We get it – booking in things for your wedding can be slightly overwhelming. Where do I start? What’s the most important step? Sometimes it feels easier to jump straight to dreaming of what coloured roses you love rather than to think about the practicality side of things. Whilst choosing your inspiration of your overall style is of course essential (and we personally think the best part of the process!) we thought we would create a guide to help understand what logistics need to be ticked off before we jump to the magnificent flower statement pieces that will await you as you walk down the aisle. This of course is not a strict timeline, and it is simply a suggestion as to what will help your booking process. Once these things have been chosen and booked in, it’s time to get out that Pintrest board you have lovingly added photos to over the months, deep dive into all your favourite wedding Instagrams and marvel at all the flower inspiration.

OUR PRE-WEDDING FLOWERS CHECKLIST

  •  Secure your wedding venue for both ceremony and reception

We think booking your dream venue sets the tone for the rest of the bookings. Your chosen date might not be available at this venue, but leaving room for flexibility means you can see if there is a close date as an alternative. If it’s fully booked at the time you want to get married, then perhaps it’s time to go to venue plan B. Choosing your venue will help your florist know if it’s a location they are happy to travel too, which is crucial for booking in your wedding florist if you want on site set up. It also helps your florist understand the atmosphere and style you and your partner are wanting- spaces often set the tone and inspire. It also can help you and your florists know what arrangements would be suitable for the space.

  • Confirm your date

We recommend knowing this before you enquire or seek a quote from a florist. Florists spend time and consideration creating your bespoke quote. If you get to the stage of going through the process of a quote and then find out that your date isn’t available for your chosen florist it can often feel disappointing for you and your partner, but it will have also taken a lot of time from your florist.

  • Decide on an approximate start time for your ceremony and reception

Timing will also help decide how the day runs. A florist may have capacity for an afternoon wedding on a date where they are already booked for a morning wedding. But knowing your estimated time, (for example a PM or AM wedding), can be a good guideline for what time slots your florist needs to set aside for delivery and set up. You can confirm with the finalised set time with your florist closer to the date.

  • Talk about budget

Wedding budgets range for every couple, and that’s something our floral team respects and understands. Having a sit down with your partner and talking about budget helps with your decision making. Establishing if this is a flexible price will also allow you to decide whether you spend more on items or a design you may fall in love with. Whatever you are booking in the wedding and event industry, know that all good vendors are experienced professionals. Their pricing is often a reflection of their skills, knowledge and expertise. By booking with a professional you are eliminating the risk of future stressors. Please note we have a minimum spend on weddings for this reason.

  • Start the process of booking in other vendors and services

This can range from catering, signage, wedding planners to furniture hire. This step isn’t necessary for pre-booking your wedding florals, but it is a great thing to start thinking about and planning so that you get an idea of the bigger picture of the day. It’s good to reach out to your chosen vendors in advance to make sure you can secure them. Knowing who else you will be working with on the day means you can communicate to them your style and make sure that the florals complement this, but it also gives your florist an understanding what else you have organised. This helps them with their design concepts and the flow of the day.

Hopefully these are some useful l tips for starting your wedding planning process. We are always excited to start your journey of planning your wedding florals, and want the process to be enjoyable for you. Let us help make the booking of your flowers easy and inspiring.
